This is what happens when you swap heads between a book of early American painting and a fashion magazine. Initially, it was the caption over the models that provoked me: "Darling Buds A bouquet of long-stemmed, rose-red party dresses..." There was nothing rose-like or party-like about the listless dresses, expressions and poses of these women. So I started by replacing their heads with roses, and then, well, things went full Goth.
