The Current Obsession
Card Set #2, 48 cards 3"x4.25"
The fronts are selectively-trimmed images from magazines. The backing is made from the thick pages of Tiffany calendars that friends got each year and found too pretty to throw away. This project has finally depleted the Tiffany calendar collection, so unless I find a forgotten stash, this deck of cards is complete at 48.
What do they mean? The joy of this was in not assigning words, numbers or a system. I chose the images for their symbolic, representational and visual qualities, looking for variety and surprises. They were combined randomly with the backings, which were trimmed to avoid titles and blocks of text, so those came out fairly randomly too. As a deck, the cards are meant to be evocative, not predictive.
